Hard to believe Dean Koontz wrote this long and boring book!

I thought I would never finish this long and boring book. I didn’t think there could be a Dean Koontz book I hated, but I was wrong. I’ve read about 24 of them so far and loved every one except “Your Heart Belongs to Me” which I merely liked. This tedious book gets only two stars. There were too many main characters, too much repetition recounting the "inciting incident", boring dialogue, and the stunning, elevating moments I expect in a Dean Koontz book were few and far between. Even the metaphors in this one were poor. Did Koontz even write the thing? It reads like an amateur trying to write like the master. Impatiently I skimmed many, many pages trying to get to the end. The mooon, the mooooonnn!

Well worth the hours of reading needed!

So I got the audible version through kindle so I could listen as I work (which I highly recommend). It takes longer to listen to a book than to read it, but it's well worth all the hours either way you choose.
I was getting concerned when I was maybe 6 hours in and there was still characters being introduced, but sooner than I realized I was connecting with all of them, and I couldn't wait to hear what was going to happen next.
I felt like it ended rather abruptly, after such an elaborate and lengthy story, but I can honestly say I didn't get bored through any part of the story (which happens in lengthy novels).

Riveting and Transcendent

I came to this book with no preconceived notions and glowing reviews. The author hooked me from the first page. I cancelled my exercise class two days in a row so that I could finish this book. Koontz's themes always have a spiritual quality and a focus on love and friendship that I love. This book is original, entertaining, and will leave you wondering about the nature of God, love, and the universe long after you finish the last page.
